Freealpental.org  is a community, grassroots based organization of people who peaceably assemble on U.S. Forest Service land at Alpental (German for "Alpine Valley"), about a mile North of Snoqualmie Pass in the central Washington Cascade mountains. "Das Tal" has for many years been home to a unique community of backcountry climbers, skiers, snowboarders, snowshoers, hikers, and other wilderness enthusiasts enjoying what is our national heritage; public wilderness. Our purpose is to advocate for public use of public lands at Alpental, to discourage any privatization (I.E. land trade deals) of our public lands there, to facilitate public comment and opinion to the Forest Service Supervisor (who issues the Special Use Permit [Ref. FSM 2710] to the holder), to provide information resources for public safety while using this public land, and to take a pro-active stewardship role in the care and conservation of this, our national wilderness area. Contrary to some perceptions, we are not "anti-ski area," we are however pro-access and stewardship. Thank you for helping us keep the true spirit of Alpental alive!
